THE CPC PROGRAM LIBRARY INFORMATION SERVICE
This service provides information about almost 1200 programs in physics and
physical chemistry which are held in the CPC Program Library and described in
the journal Computer Physics Communications (CPC). There is both a subject
and an author index. Detailed instructions for accessing the index can be
obtained by sending a mail message to
LISTRAL@UK.AC.RL.IB ( or the JANET-EARN gateway UK.AC.EARN-RELAY)
containing the single line
GET CPC INTRO CPCINDEX
Other useful lines are:
GET CPC NEWS CPCINDEX
( which sends latest news and list of programs in the latest volume
of the journal)
GET INFO ORDER CPCINDEX
gives information on how to order program copies from the CPC Program
Library.
GET CPC INSTR CPCINDEX
gives concise instructions to authors for submitting a program to CPC
Program Library and its description to Computer Physics Communications.
The CPC Program Library would be grateful to receive constructive comments
from users of the information service. Please send them to:
CPC@UK.AC.QUB.AMV1 JANET network

INDEX OF ARCHIMEDES SOFTWARE HELD ON THE NEWCASTLE INFO SERVER
---------------------------------------------------------------
To retrieve a file a file from the archive, send a message to
info-server@newcastle.ac.uk with the following content:
line-limit 1000
request: sources

OTHER ARCHIVES: (information from Newcastle)
There is an archive at the University of Stuttgart Supercomputing Centre
(rusmv1.rus.uni-stuttgart.de, address 129.69.1.12) with some interesting
stuff. The directory is soft/acorn.
The nethack posting is available for anon ftp from the tolsun archive
(internet address 128.214.5.6), directories pub/acorn and incoming/acorn.
A version of TeX for the Archimedes is available, also for anon ftp, from
phoibos.cs.kun.nl, address 131.174.81.1. The directory is pub/ArMaTuReS, and
there are 17 sparked files called TeX0.arm .... TeXg.arm. The '0' file
contain's readme's, '8' and '9' contain sources, 'a' ... 'g' contain fonts.
There is also an archive site in Australia which is only accessible from
within Australia. Contact person is nomad@deakin.oz.au.
An archive of comp.sys.acorn is available for anonymous ftp from
ftp.win.tue.nl (currently 131.155.70.100, but this could change) in the
directory /pub/comp/sys/acorn. The archive contains (almost) all articles
which have ever appeared in comp.sys.acorn on the host
svin02.info.win.tue.nl. Note that this contains discussion, not necessarily
software.

Joint Network Team's "Networked Information Services Project" (NISP)
The Mailbase Service supports over 50 discussion lists for 10 UK groups
which include CHEST, IUIC and the Libraries group. Documentation on how
to use the service is available from
mailbase@uk.ac.newcastle
Send e-mail to this address contining the single line
send mailbase overview
This will return you information on how to use the system and find out what
lists are available. I belong to CHEST-UNIRAS and CHEST-EMUTEK and find
them very useful, my unseen friends can often help with advice on my problems
which are rarely documented in the manuals.

Higher Education National Software Archive (HENSA)- unix
Formerly Numerical Software Distribution Service (Netlib)
A list of the available libraries will be mailed to you if you send a
message to archive@unix.hensa.ac.uk containing the single line
send info/hensa.unix.general
Further details can be found in the journal CACM Vol30, 1987 p403-407
There is a lot of Fortran source code here, including the database of
polyhedra used by !WimpPoly, and information about the Computers in
teaching Initiative (CTI).
The organisers welcome suggestions for further software to mount. Mail your
suggestions to archive-admin@unix.hensa.ac.uk
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
National Information on Software and Services (NISS)
This offers two major online services, NISSBB, the NISS Bulletin Board,
and NISSPAC, the NISS Public Access Collections. Users on JANET can connect
to this service by typing CALL NISS
which should connect you to the service, and give you help to get started.
If this command does not work, try calling the numeric address 000062200000
Experienced users can call NISSBB@Uk.ac.NISS.BB (000062200001) or
NISSPAC@UK.AC.NISS.PAC (000050300009

Higher Education National Software Archive (HENSA)- micros
Formerly PDSoft at Lancaster
Has software for most of the popular microcomputers, and regular
newsletters sent out via e-mail.
The newsletters contain abstracts of the latest packages to have been put
on the archive for this section and any user queries or articles of
interest.
The newsletter is sent out via e-mail approximately every two weeks although
this may vary depending on the amount of material being made available for
the section. If you wish to receive a copy of the newsletter then you should
send a message to :-
